Meet the person behind the numbers

Taucier Smalls-West spent more than twenty years in education before she ever prepared a tax return professionally. Explaining hard things in plain language was the job — and it turned out to be perfect training for this one.

A seasonal side job doing tax prep revealed the real calling. She founded West Financial Services in 2020 and took the firm full-time in 2023. She holds an MBA, and she built this business from scratch — learning firsthand the costly lessons she now helps her clients avoid.

The firm serves clients in many industries, but landscaping and green industry owners have her heart. Too many of them underprice their work, overpay in taxes, and run hard all season without a plan. Changing that is the point of this firm.

Her guiding motto is simple: leave people better than you found them.

How we work

Most owners hear from their accountant once a year, at tax time, with no planning and no explanation. We think that is backwards. Our whole model is regular contact and plain language — every bookkeeping plan includes a standing Check-In where we go through your numbers together and explain the why and the how behind every decision.
